To my brothers and sisters from the North.
Friends,
Having practiced divination for some 2 decades, I was taught to share with you a few things regarding the state of Norse Indigenism, where it has been and where it can go.
Some of the things I have to share will shock you. This letter may in fact, anger or confuse you especially considering we do not share a pantheon. That’s correct.
I do not worship the Aesir or the Vanir, though my genealogy is German and Scot and
in my heart, I am a true Norse man.
But the heart is not the blood, the blood is not the bones.
Allow me to preface by stating that the idea for this letter was initially intended to be sent to our whole community, regardless of path but I was stopped in my tracks by my divination.
The Spirits have taught me that this letter is for you an you alone. The reason for this is that certain changes are happening in the world and that the children of the Vaitter are going to be playing a very important part in the happenings.
First, I’ve already discussed the first two issues (for you, substitute the word “pagan” for “heathen”) but there are some path-specific problems I’ve been taught to share with you.
1. a. On the topic of divination, in your case, the Runes.
Yes, there are cultural variants; some places ascribing a larger set than others. This is
of no consequence. Let us not quibble about which is more correct.
The Spirits have taught me that each rune represents a specific spirit. (No surprise to some of you, I’m sure) and that each rune is a word, or phrase…not a letter.
(much like the horrifically attempted letterization of Egyptian hieroglyphs)
I ask you to consider the possibility that the current phenomena of using the runes as an alphabet is utterly false; that this phenomena came after the Christianization of northern Europe and therefore cannot be trusted any more than a man could throw a mountain.
The concept is confusing, I know. After all, there are the runestones to consider and those cultural relics unarguably use the runes in an alphabetical context.
But ask yourself, who would benefit most from turning ancient magical symbols into a mere alphabet, to be homogenized and disempowered? Why the Roman Catholic Church of course!
In the myriad ways the R. C. C. de-Indigenized northern Europe, this one crime stands a putrid root of a diseased tree.
The letterization of the Runes was, quite simply, a way for the church to cut the ancient Norse people off from their ancestral gods. It was ingenious really. Take away the primary tools for practicing one of the oldest religions and turn them into something secular; something to be used on paperwork.
The runes are how our ancestors communicated with the gods and the church decided that it appeared enough like the Roman alphabet to be mutilated and crushed into a secular device. Have a stone or two carved, using the glyphs as a mere writing tool and in just a few short years, our people began to forget the tremendous power and significance these words of mystery once held.
Lastly, I’ll simply say this; Odin did not take going to Mimir lightly. His journey (as you will see in a moment) helped the Norse people to become who they are (minus the church) and would it not be prudent for all of us to take a lesson from this great Norse hero? That divination of the Spirits was important enough to our ancestors to hold up Odin as a seer and shaman is obvious, even past the Christian reinterpretation of “all father. ”
Shouldn’t we seriously consider implementing the use of Runes for all Norse Indigenists…all the time…for everything?
Bearing this in mind, I don’t support the use of the “futhark” system as it letterizes the Runes and detracts from the unknown. However, not all of us can be Devincis of divination, therefore, I support the use of the system, until such a place as can be gained by the individual wherein a unique meaning can be divined for practice.
Part 1. b. The gods
On the matter of the gods, many of you will not pleased to hear what I have learned. It seems again, we have been mislead by corrupt or misguided interpreters, translators... etc….
Odin, it seems is neither a god nor long dead king. He was, in fact, an ergi “volva”.
Not the intimidating, bearded ruler we have all come to know, but rather, a gay tribal shaman. This, in no way should delineate our respect for this shared folk hero.
I equate him with the Egyptian Imhotep (also a wise and kind man, later given deity status)
Also important in this teaching is eradicating the concept of “all father, ” a title given him by later Norse writers who had become Christianized and, of course, needed to dilute the cultural strength of this hero by making him something more Christian-oriented.
If this offends you, it probably should. Know, however, that I myself am gay and use various methods of non-traditional spiritual practices so don’t mistake what I’ve written for demonization of gays or Odin.
Upon learning this from the Spirits, I was quite delighted, I assure you.
Odin was a Goddess worshiper, as is shown by his travel to the sacred well.
Allow me at this point to make doubly sure that we all have a comprehension of the concept of “sacred well. ”
In all cultures, regardless of geography, there a few common elements. The most important being that Water is considered Feminine and water worship is therefore Goddess worship.
Amoung certain cultures, as I glance towards Bangalore and Nepal, there is a well established spiritual tradition of the humanization of deity, the avatara or Lama is supposed to be considered the incarnation of a deity and anything the ‘chosen” person does or says is viewed as an “act” of the god or goddess.
I will not delve further into this problem here. Suffice it to say this is not spiritually healthy nor does it lend itself to psychological wellness.
Real gods, after all, do not bleed.
In the aforementioned traditions (which I do not discount as a whole, I am merely disagreeing with certain points within their teachings) the story of Odin at The Well
can be taken in a sexual context. “The well” then, viewed as a woman, etc…but I am absolutely sure this is not the case. We are all aware of the “sacred well” in folklore, especially in Northern Europe where fresh water must have been difficult to come by is nodded to by modern Indigenists and we do have at least a glimpse of such practices in our so-called histories.
It was taught to me by the Spirits, through divination, that the well in question was assuredly an actual well, dedicated to a particular aspect of the Great Goddess; that the creation of the runes was due to the trance state Odin self induced as a part of his shamanic rites (truly a great moment in human history, easily akin to the invention of the wheel or the internet); and that Odin did not “die” and “return” as is so often interpreted from the available literature (another add-on by post-conversion Norse authors.) nor did the Vanir “kill” Mimir; all complete nonsense.
Real gods don’t die.

The point of the original post was to give Norse practitioners messages I've received for their benefit, through divination... I will therefore continue with this line of thought)
Further notes;
1. That the cow Audhumla was the christo-nord form of the concept of "earth goddess" and should be disregarded, as it lends itself to using tantric practices as the highest spirituality, which it is not. That, further, "earth goddess" worship itself should be stricken as such a thing causes a spiritual sickness.
